Proposals for new planning and implementation Mechanisms for the Post-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework in the context of the EU budget and local policies
On September 17th, the Committee for Territorial Cohesion Policy and the EU Budget of the European Committee of the Regions met in Oulu, Finland. During the meeting, I highlighted the following points:
- In the context of the post-2027 multiannual financial framework and cohesion policy, it is crucial to prioritize support for rural regions, particularly those facing the challenges of coexisting with large carnivors in mountainous areas.
- EU funding should be directed towards the development of accessible and effective technologies that assist farmers and local authorities in protecting biodiversity, while supporting extensive livestock farming.
- Simplifying financial instruments and ensuring flexibility will also be key to empowering local and regional authorities, allowing them to manage territorial challenges effectively.
- Strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors will enhance investments in biodiversity protection and promote regional development.
