Young people need encouragement to make their voices heard!

The results of the European and local elections show that youth participation in elections remains very low.

The European Year of Youth 2022 has highlighted the importance of involving young people in democratic processes, education and employment opportunities.

Therefore, in today’s debate forum in Vilnius, I underlined that it is crucial to raise awareness about the involvement of young people in democratic processes.

We have the tools at local level to increase the involvement of young people in public life. We need their participation in shaping everyday life.

But we need to find innovative strategies to encourage young people to get involved in politics, where they can make a difference.

In the light of the upcoming elections in Romania, we need to start thinking now about how to mobilise young people.

We need more dialogue and joint thinking. A youthful impetus coming from young people.
