Borboly Csaba: When we plant a tree, we plant hope in ourselves and in the community!
150 fruit tree saplings was planted between Cristuru Secuiesc and Goagiu as part of the Committee of the Regions’ “Trees for Life” campaign
Harghita County Council, in partnership with “Petőfi Sándor” Secondary School in Cristuru Secuiesc, Avrămești Unitarian Parish, Cechești Reformed Parish, Goagiu Unitarian Parish, Cechești Unitarian Parish, Villám Volunteer Firefighters Association, Avrămești Sports Association, Avrămești Traditions Association, Harghita County Council’s Development Association for Rural Development, participated on Tuesday, 26 March, in the planting of 150 fruit trees along the DJ136 county road between Cristuru Secuiesc and Goagiu.
The action was also possible thanks to the good cooperation with the Harghita County Police Inspectorate, as the fruit trees were planted with the approval of the institution in order to ensure traffic safety conditions.
“It was a team activity, involving schools, composesorate, sports associations, volunteer firemen, parish representatives. I thank all those involved in the success of this campaign. It is very important to instill in children a love for nature and certainly each child left the action with a lesson learned, and why not, maybe they will plant at home and thus contribute to achieving our goal of a green Harghita county. Each of us can contribute by getting involved. When we plant a tree, we plant hope in ourselves and in the community. In this way, we set a good example in the community” said Borboly Csaba, President of Harghita County Council.
Two years ago, Harghita County Council, Harghita County Council s Rural Development Association and Harghita County Development Agency launched a campaign in Harghita County to plant 50,000 pine and fruit trees.
With this campaign, Harghita County Council joins the initiative of the European Committee of the Regions with the ambitious goal of planting 3 billion trees by 2030.
Borboly Csaba, President of Harghita County Council, is also an Ambassador of the European Climate Pact and member and rapporteur of the European Committee of the Regions.
