On 26 November 2025, starting at 11:00 a.m., an interactive professional forum entitled \u201cBiodiversity and the Challenges of Coexistence with Large Carnivores\u201d was held in the Cseke G\u00e1bor Hall of the K\u00e1joni J\u00e1nos County Library. During the workshop, participants \u2013 members of local communities, experts and decision-makers \u2013 jointly examined the social, economic and ecological conflicts arising from the presence of brown bears, and formulated sustainable solutions that ensure both public safety and the preservation of biodiversity.<\/p>\n
The event took place as a multidisciplinary forum where farmers, hunting and conservation specialists, as well as members of local communities shared their experiences and worked together to find innovative, locally applicable solutions. Thanks to the facilitated process, the perspectives of all stakeholder groups were represented, the discussions were results-oriented, and participants reached consensus on the proposed measures.<\/p>\n
The programme consisted of interactive professional sessions during which participants:<\/p>\n
* exchanged experiences and provided field-based feedback;<\/p>\n
* mapped the main sources of conflicts, such as damages in settlements and agriculture, challenges related to tourism and public safety, and obstacles in institutional cooperation;<\/p>\n
* jointly developed preventive tools, rapid response protocols, public information models and structures aimed at improving collaboration.<\/p>\n
At the end of the workshop, participants systematised the identified issues, reached consensus on the proposed actions, and defined the next steps toward safe and sustainable coexistence with large carnivores.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
