Csaba Borboly, Vice President of the Harghita County Council and member of the European Committee of the Regions, is actively participating in the European Union\u2019s strategic discussions on the green transition and youth retention. Recently, he has taken on a new role as Chair of the Working Group on Bosnia and Herzegovina, nominated by the European People\u2019s Party (EPP), further strengthening Harghita County\u2019s presence in the European political arena.
\nDuring the meetings held in Brussels, Csaba Borboly emphasized that the green transition, energy sovereignty, and youth retention are not only urban issues but primarily concern rural areas. The amendment proposals submitted today aim to ensure that the support and development opportunities available through the #GreenDeal also reach smaller communities, including Harghita County. The focus is on creating local green jobs, developing energy communities, and implementing related vocational training.
\n\u201cNow is the time for us to decide together what kind of Sz\u00e9kely Land we want: a region where young people don\u2019t leave, but instead find opportunities and build a future,\u201d said Csaba Borboly.
\nHe expressed his gratitude to the European People\u2019s Party for nominating him as Chair of the Working Group on Bosnia and Herzegovina. During today\u2019s meeting, both the Committee of the Regions and Harghita County reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina\u2019s accession to the European Union as soon as possible. \u201cThe future of Europe is not decided only in capitals, but in local communities, where ambition and cooperation are our greatest resources,\u201d he added.
\nCsaba Borboly stressed that supporting younger generations and coordinating local development are essential to ensure that Sz\u00e9kely communities remain livable and sustainable in the long term.
